What your animal’s behavior can tell you about its health and environment  

           Guest Speaker s Ken Pawlowski, DVM

 

Dr. Pawlowski graduated from UC Davis in 1996 and began working with Banfield.  He quickly became the chief of staff and mentor doctor for the Sacramento region.  In October 2002, he and his wife, opened their first Banfield hospital in Folsom.  In 2007, they opened their second Banfield in Lincoln.  With a team of more than 20 - including veterinarians, RVT’s, petnurses and receptionists - they provide medical care to dogs, cats, rabbits, ferrets, birds, rodents, reptiles and even Sugar Gliders! 

Prior to going to veterinary school Dr. Pawlowski earned a degree in Exotic Animal Training and Management from the famous EATM program at Moorpark College and subsequently trained sea lions and dolphins for the US Navy (as a civilian) in San Diego.

           Guest Speaker s Melissa Gates, DVM

 

Dr. Gates graduated from Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine in 1980.  She has been an owner of Cordova Veterinary Hospital in Rancho Cordova since 1987, which is accredited by the American Animal Hospital Association.

She has a special interest in veterinary dentistry, and has been a member of the American Veterinary Dental Society since 1990.  Dr. Gates is active in local and state veterinary associations, having served as President and Treasurer for the Sacramento Valley Veterinary Medical Association and Charitable Foundation.  She completed the Don Low/CVMA Practitioner Fellowship in Small Animal Internal Medicine at U.C. Davis School of Veterinary Medicine, and is in an alternate pathway program for the Academy of Veterinary Dentistry.
