Humane Society of the Sierra Foothills,
a Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals
Established in 2008, HSSF’s Law Enforcement Division’s humane officer’s are dedicated to investigating animal abuse and cruelty cases and working with the district attorney’s office and law enforcement to prosecute individuals. HSSF’s Humane Officers are highly trained, sworn personnel appointed by the Superior Court. These officers have all the powers of a peace officer with authority to investigate animal abuse, neglect and cruelty. Humane Officers also have the power to issue citations, make arrests and conduct searches – if necessary, to prevent animal abuse anywhere in the state of California.
Together with volunteers from other non-profit animal rescue organizations as well as local veterinarians, the HSSF investigations team is committed to promoting and protecting the health, safety, and welfare of animals and people.
